It is with great pleasure that the AIM Ramon V. del Rosario Sr. Center for Corporate Social Responsibility (AIM-RVR Center) partners with the Junior Chamber International-Manila (JCI-Manila) through an awards program-the Ramon V. del Rosario, Sr. Award for Nation Building in honor of a man whose life accomplishments warrant recognition and praise.

Simply stated, an award is an acknowledgement given to a person or organization to recognize excellence in a certain discipline. Through the RVR Award, we will honor an individual who emulates RVR-an Entrepreneur and a CSR Statesman.

At the AIM RVR Center's launch in July 2000, Amb. Ramon V. del Rosario, Sr.'s message posed a challenge - "to do not what only what is required, but more importantly, to do what is right. Corporate responsibility, as in all things about governance, is neither simple nor compartmentalized. It requires a degree of foresight and vision among all members of the corporation from top management to rank-and-file workers. And it calls for grounding in reality because ultimately, corporate responsibility is about action."

How has business responded to this challenge? What has it done to bridge the inequalities and inequities in our society? The bridge that business has used is a set of activities that are CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) programs and projects. In more than two-thirds of RVR's life, he worked hard to make life for the Filipino better by addressing the social needs of the country through his business endeavors and public service.

The awards program will honor other individuals whose life journeys best reflect those of RVR. We feel that RVR's greatest legacy is that of planting the seeds of nationalism and genuine concern for fellowmen.

You will know you have discovered your life's work when you wake up eager to face each day and you feel good about not only what you do but also who you are.
